My name is Carol Curry and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.  I am excited to introduce a new children’s counseling practice to Irving, TX and the nearby mid-cities area.   I love working with all ages to help when change is needed.  Often, a change in mindset brings about the greatest changes in life.

I especially enjoy working with children who are working through  problems related to ADHD, family issues,  and other mental health issues which cause disruption in home and school.  In applying focus on what the child has accomplished and his positive attributes, an attitude of “I can” is established and the foundation is laid for both child and parents to work through behavioral difficulties employing  the same “can-do” mindset to effect change.  Treatment for each child is tailored for his or her individual strengths and talents. Therapy for a child will incorporate his hobbies when possible.  Art, music, and writing may be a part of his sessions and homework.

Parents are encouraged to participate when necessary as I work from a systemic mindset.  A child is at the center of his world, affecting, and  affected by all entities of his environment, beginning with his immediate family, followed by his extended family, and then by school, friends, church, and extracurricular activities.  A careful look at health, childhood traumas, social skills, family dynamics, learning difficulties, behavior and other symptoms is necessary to obtaining a history of problem areas and will aid in decisions on how his or her treatment proceeds.
